Role of economic factors in change
This conference given in November 1999 is a theoretical reflection on the relation between several forms of determinism (or primacy or even autonomy and immutability) of the economy and various theses on the subject as active agent of voluntary “change” in or of the society.
This theoretical confrontation is set within the framework of the political confrontations fuelled by the globalization, as they can be seen from the Middle East, at the eve of September 11, with a particular accent on the deformations and cases of capture of the terms of the political discourse.
